Another Great Midlands Golf Day

The 7th annual KIT AID GOLF DAY held at Ullesthorpe Court Hotel and Golf Club in South Leicestershire was another huge success drawing in nearly 120 players and charity supporters from all over the UK. There was the normal influx of Elite Rugby Referees from England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland who again competed for the ‘4 NATIONS CHALLENGE’ with this years winners being the ‘GINGER SLUGGERS REJECTS’ from the Scottish Rugby Union in Edinburgh, captained by Neil Paterson. The main team prize however went to local boys the ‘COMPLETE FLANKERS’ captained by Jason Woodcock (pictured). TIM SMITH of the ‘BOBS” team won the Individual prize. Evening entertainment was provided by a panel of rugby experts fielding questions on all things ‘ LIONS IN NEW ZEALAND’ which was hosted by ex international referee TONY SPREADBURY (AKA SPREADERS) and included current international referees JP DOYLE and GEORGE CLANCY, along with ex British Lion TIM STIMPSON. The Evening climaxed featuring  ‘THAT FUNNY BLIND GUY’ Jamie MacDonald with his hilarious anecdotal stories about his myopic adventures and mishaps. Jamie will be back at the Edinburgh Fringe this year with his month long show.

Many thanks to all who attended, supported and sponsored this event which raised much needed funds to send recycled new and used rugby kit to disadvantaged children across the world. The next Golf Day is being held at Kingsdown Golf Club near Bath on Friday 1st September. For details contact
