First SOS Kit Aid Northern Golf Day a Great Success

The first SOS Kit Aid  Northern Golf day took place on July 5th with 14 teams taking part at Staining Lodge Golf Club near Blackpool. The weather was set fair and the beer buggies fully loaded for the day.

Graham Price was our Ambassador for the day with a surprise visit by Wade Dooley  who only lives about 800 yds from the Golf course. Teams entered were from Yorkshire Lancashire and Cumbria with the largest group from the MADREFS (Manchester referees Society). John Broadfoot and Mike Thomas represented SOS Kit Aid.

The winning Team with a 1 point winning margin was Blacktax led by Ian Hugin who also won the individual competion in a card play from Nathan Dobson Representing Market Place  Letting Agents. The Captive Crew came 2nd in the Team competition.

A singing interlude was provided by our local Rugby playing Opera singer Peter Bowden. Thanks to all the supporters a large amount of money went into the SOS Kit Aid funds and a halfway house collection went to the My Name’s Doddie Foundation. Also thanks to Peter and Alison Wigglesworth, Owners and managers of Staining Lodge Golf Club  (YES they are the parents of England and Saracens Rugby Scrum Half, Richard). Hopefully a repeat next year is on the cards
